Michael Blanton: Coach, we’re in the middle of the off season. Can you give us some insight into the planning for the next season? What can fans expect on the pitch in 2025?
David Proctor: The off season is a very busy time and instrumental in our planning for 2025. Preparations are ongoing for the start of pre-season which will start Feb 1, with player negotiations, game planning and development of the training sessions. Fans can expect a high energy team that plays with an entertaining style, creativity and a winning mentality.
MB: With pre-season fast approaching, what do you expect from returning and new players as they arrive in February of next year?
DP: The players will return in top class physical condition ready to take on the targets of reaching the playoffs & challenging to win the NISA championship. We believe our 2025 squad will be equipped with the skills and mentality to be serious contenders for the championship.
MB: Coach, while we’ve had some turnover in player personnel as can be expected with any professional team, we easily saw by mid-season this past year, we truly began to show an identity. The team really seemed to gel together and show it on the field with exciting play and some really positive results. Can you elaborate on that identity and how you expect it to grow and shine for the 2025 season?
DP: We have developed an attractive style and brand in a short time and one that has been recognized across the country. We will continue that progress but improvements to the way we defend will be evident with style and some new playing personnel in important positions. Scoring goals and keeping clean sheets will be key.
MB: Coach, you’re now entering your third season here in Savannah with the Clovers. What are your favorite parts of city? What are your thoughts on the local soccer culture from youth to adult leagues, its diversity, and how it fits in with the Clovers?
DP: Savannah is a wonderful city to live, work and raise our children. I love the downtown, the historic district, and the plant riverside district. The restaurants and coffee shops and the history and culture of the city. The local soccer scene is very important to the Clovers. The local clubs have excellent directors of coaching, great coaches and of course the players who enjoy coming to watch the professional team with their parents. It’s very important we continue to build relationships with all the soccer community youth to adults. The Clover fans were excellent in their support last season, we enjoyed them getting behind the team and the players enjoyed playing in front of them. By far the best fans in the league and we look forward to a successful 2025 season.
